Other Kinds of Pleasures

Other Kinds of Pleasures is a platform I’ve created to write about BDSM, kink and queer sex in the context of contemporary culture. It is also a place to interview artists, educators, sex workers, archivists, researchers and creatives for whom these topics are at the core of their practice and identity. The pieces I write here draw from the books I read, the incredible people I talk to, and my personal experiences of playing with pain and power.

I called this project “Other Kinds of Pleasures” partly because of how we are still othered by society right alongside our pleasures: queers, leathredykes, sadists and masochists, daddies and babies, brats, kittens, fetishists, dom/mes and subs. We all know that personal is political, and that sex holds great power. Sex is a large part of our identities, but somehow this is a conversation which currently isn’t welcome in the mainstream media. This is a place to connect, learn, be inspired, and celebrate our shared freakiness.
